Who is Ball 2 designed for?

Ball2 is made with kids in mind, but is fun for all ages. The target age range is 9–14, but it can be played by anyone with a playful spirit. Ball2 is built for families, parties, classrooms, STEM education, and adults who enjoy interactive games.

How does the AI work?

The Ball 2 uses Conversational AI to make and code its games. We call it The GameMaker and it’s what makes it different from anything else you’ve ever played with.

When you land on a set of game rules, it’s sent to be coded automatically by AI. It’s built over the course of a couple minutes, by AI in the cloud.

When the code returns you have a new, real, playable game. Once a game is created, you own it forever. You can replay it any time, and you can share the game with friends for free so they can play it too.

Is the AI kid-friendly?

Ball2 uses OpenAI’s API, but the experience your child gets isn’t just a raw model. It’s wrapped inside an extremely strict, kid-friendly prompt.

If a child asks the AI something outside of that purpose the system politely redirects them right back to creating or improving a game. It stays focused on play, creativity, and movement.

We’ve tested these guardrails extensively with real kids, real families, and real edge cases. And we’re not just setting it and forgetting it. We will continually monitor, refine, and improve this system as more families join Ball2.

The app collects minimal data, stores it on the device, and complies with COPPA standards for children under 13.

Can I make unlimited games?

The Game Maker conversations use AI in real time, and AI has a tangible per-use cost - every Ball2 user starts with 20 game creation credits. A credit is used each time you have a conversation with the Game Maker, to make a game from scratch or to edit or change a previously existing game.

After those 20 credits - to make more games with the GameMaker, you can buy additional game credits through in-app purchases.

Does Ball2 come with pre-made games?

The Ball2 has community games that we've built with AI, tested, and know are awesome. You can find them in the Community Games section of the app. These games show off a small range of possibilities with Ball2 and hopefully help spark new game ideas.

Does it need an internet connection to work?

Ball 2 connects to your phone via Bluetooth. The AI features that invent games or talk back require internet access, but any community game or previously created games are available without an active internet connection.

What do I do if the AI seems like it is lagging?

Game Making does require an internet connection. The stronger the connection the better the conversation will flow. If you are outside of your home but still connected to you wifi, you may find a better signal turning off your wifi and making the game with data.

How long does the battery last and how is it charged?

The battery will last over 500 hours of active gameplay over a 3 year period.

Do I need to be gentle with my Ball 2?

The Ball 2 is a durable foam ball. That said it is still an electronic device. Please treat your Ball 2 with respect and care.

Why is the voice when making games different from the voice playing games?

The voice when making a game is controlled through the Game Maker process and the Conversational AI. When playing games the app uses system voices from your phone.

On Apple devices we recommend downloading the "Daniel (Enhanced)" voice for the best experience. The easiest way to do this is search "Voices" in Settings and go to "Voices-> Accessibility -> Read & Speak".

What are the holes for?

The Ball 2 was intended to be modded. The center groove and the 10 holes in the ball are built to allow you to attach your own 3D prints to it.
